That the JumboSwitch can be confidently used for deterministic and real-time applications is evidenced by a recent JumboSwitch installation at the primary power utility on the island of Jamaica, the Jamaica Public Service Co (JPS). “Our communications guys were concerned about real time latency issues on IP networks,” said Clive Wright, Manager, Electronic Communication systems for JPS, “but, after extensive testing, I am pleased to report that the round-trip delay is within tolerances ( in this instance less than 10mS measured end-to-end, inclusive of the relays) specified for the JPS protective relays.”
