G.703 Interfaces
G.703 presents a standard method for encoding clock and data into a single signal. G.703 principles
typically apply to interfaces with data rates ranging from 64 kbps to 2.048 Mbps.
G.703 co-directional circuits are frequently used to interconnect various data communications devices such as multiplexers, switches or routers.
G.703 for Teleprotection in Power Utilities
Although G.703 Teleprotection applications in power utilities are extremely demanding, using G.703 for teleprotection is becoming more common.
Teleprotection relay signals must be transferred reliably and fast with low latency and the end-to-end network delay must meet exacting specifications, typically less than 10 msec. To meet these exacting specifications, bandwidth, low latency jitter and network features such as QoS are critical.
TC Communications’ G.703 over IP Devices
Ideal for G.703 over Ethernet or IP applications the TC3846-1 features extremely low latency of less than 5 msec., one way. The TC3846-1 G.703/64k-over-IP Gateway extends 64kbps G.703 co-directional circuits over Ethernet/IP networks. It is simple to configure and supports both point-to-point and point-to-multi point topologies.
Extremely low latency (minimal end-to-end processing delay) is achieved by using high-performance adaptive clock recovery, buffering and forwarding technology. To insure reliable communications, the TC3846-1 supports VLAN and QoS for packet prioritization.
